Let's recap: What is NaramataSlow?
NaramataSlow is a registered non-profit society, composed of nine directors and affiliated with Cittaslow International, our certifying body.
The main goal of Cittaslow is to foster the development of places that enjoy a robust vitality based on good food, healthy environments, sustainable economies, as well as maintain the traditional rhythms of community life.
As a result, our NaramataSlow Mission Statement has three points:
By establishing dialogue and awareness between local producers and consumers, we strive to create a community which values and appreciates its land, bounty and local artisans.
Recognizing and celebrating traditions, events, organizations and people that are fundamental to a Naramata way of life.
To foster healthy living, community involvement and sustainable food through inclusive community events and educational gatherings.

What did we do in 2021?
It takes a village! Thank you community for supporting these projects:
1. Centre Beach parkland acquisition sale closed in February, 2021
2. Inspiration, creation, and installation of new street banners
3. The NaramataSlow Snail for seed exchange finds a home
4. Return of the Naramata Community Farmers Market
5. Local Farm Stands listed on Discover Naramata website
6. Chefs in the Kitchen at Naramata Elementary School
7. Supported the reinvented Naramata Clothing Library
8. NaramataSlow Harvest Dinner, with added vegetarian option
9. First NaramataSlow Outdoor Christmas Market
10. Supported Naramata Childcare Centre
What's in store for 2022? Here are just a few projects we're working on:
1. Centre Beach Dedication & Celebration
2. Dark Sky designation
3. Farm Stand map
4. Community Planning engagement
A huge thank you to the community for rallying behind the Childcare Centre. Thanks to your generosity, they were able to hit their $10K target! The centre is still looking for one or two advisory board members to provide insight and guidance with their future goals. For more information please email
